Who We Are
Southern Homes is a veteran-owned home building company based on the southeast side of Atlanta. Since 2018, Southern Homes has teamed up with many families to help them select suitable properties and home designs (including helping design their own home), while educating them on every aspect of the build so they can choose every detail with confidence.
From where the home sits on the property to key selections like doors, windows, siding, paint, electrical requirements, HVAC needs, plumbing fixtures, roof/ceiling options, trim, gutters, tile, concrete needs, garage and attic options – and even plans for future additions like pools, detached garages, mancaves, or gazebos – our goal is to take the stress out of home building and make it fun.
We also work with families to show them ways to reduce cost based upon construction methods, approaches to financing, and various options for their home. During construction, Southern Homes provides transparency through weekly timelines and financial reviews every two weeks.

Involvement In The Community
At Southern Homes, we believe in giving back through action – not just words. Supporting families, students, veterans, and local organizations is part of who we are, not a side project. We’re committed to making a real impact in the communities we serve.
Homes & Housing Support
- We have built 2 homes “at cost”; that’s right, with NO Builder fee.
- We have renovated 3 homes “at no cost to the homeowner”. No material or labor costs.
Education & Youth
- Provide 2 college scholarships for graduating JROTC students each year.
- Provide 2 scholarships for church mission trips each year.
- Provide 1 scholarship in honor of a veteran’s son who died of leukemia.
- Sponsor for a local Middle School Athletic Department (new equipment and uniforms, etc).
- Sponsor for local High School Architect / Design department to build a home they designed and their robotics department for business development.
Community & Charity
- We have organized and supported charity events raising over $500,000 for various charities and first responders.
- Support the local community with Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for needy families.
- Ardent Supporters of Rachel’s Gift – supporting families who have lost a child
- Katlyn’s Promise – supporting women that have been abused / self-abused
- Major sponsor of Henry County Kiwanis
About The Owner
Jerry Thomas
Jerry dedicated twenty years of service with the US Army, where his assignments encompassed infantry roles (including Airborne, Ranger, and air assault duties), as well as positions in War Planning, Space Operations, and Operations Research Systems Analysis. His career included deployments and overseas service. Following his military retirement, Jerry continued to contribute in national defense as a Defense Contractor and Federal employee for ten years, focusing on mitigating both natural and man-made disasters. He later leveraged his expertise in Civil and Mechanical Engineering to support communities through home construction initiatives.
